Activities:  Yancey's Sugarbush is a 5500 tap operation - mostly BUCKETS! - that's been in continuous operation by five generations of the Yancey family since 1844. Since Peter Yancey started in the 1840's we have had a rigid policy to not cut any maple tree, big or  small, that could produce sap now or in the future. As a result some trees are over 250 years old. Traditional methods are still being used, with 2 teams of horses pulling the sleighs or wagons to gather the sap and bring it to the boiling shed. There, 2   large wood-fired evaporators boil the sap into syrup that is packaged fresh. Maple cream, sugarcakes, and granulated sugar are also available. Visitors are welcome throughout the spring maple season.
Driving:  From St Rt 812 just north of Croghan, take County Rt 10. Travel to the end of the road (about 4 miles) Turn right on Long Pond Rd. The boiling shed is at the intersection of Long Pond Rd and Fish Creek Rd.
