Yancey's Sugarbush has been in continuous operation since 1844 in the same woods by five generations of the Yancey family. Traditional methods of making syrup are still being used. Some tubing is used on the hills. Two large wood-fired evaporators boil the sap into syrup that is filtered and packaged fresh. Maple Cream, Maple Sugarcakes, and Maple Granulated Sugar are also available. Family members will be on hand to discuss the maple production techniques we use. A team of horses will be on exhibit either collecting sap (weather permitting) or giving hayrides. People are welcome to come enjoy the boiling shed and woods.
